Lorena has over 30 years of experience in the field of disability services. Her educational background is in Business Administration. She spent 11 ½ years as a disabilities advocate and 18 years in the service provider sector prior to opening Poppy’s Promise. Lorena is passionate about working with kids, young adults, and their families to achieve services that work for each family situation. Lorena and her husband have three adult children. In her spare time, Lorena enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, gardening, reading and walking.
Amy Clemons, LBSW
Chief Program & Development Officer
Amy has over 16 years of experience working with children with disabilities. She is a licensed Social Worker and is currently completing Masters level courses to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She worked with pre-school and early elementary-aged children for 5 years in the public school system and over 11 years in the service provider arena. Amy’s abilities to meet families where they are and practice acceptance of all situations are among her best professional qualities.
Melinda Retzer
Chief Operations Officer
Melinda has over 16 years of experience working with organizations that provide services to people with disabilities. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of New Mexico which brings a wealth of knowledge to her position. Melinda excels at creating systems and maintaining efficient operations. She oversees the human resources and billing functions at Poppy’s Promise. Her hobbies include fishing, sailing, hiking, and spending time with her family.
